DALLAS KING
Director / Writer / Producer
Dallas was born in California and like a gypsy, he moved 12 times growing up and was virtually raised in 7 different cities from Los Angeles to San Angelo, Texas until gaining his BA in Political Science at UCLA. Dallas' vision to be a filmmaker came while being a kid that had to interpret movies through words to his blind mother. The story continues as Dallas embarked on several personal trips circling the world 2 times, and touring 66 countries to date as a working massage therapist. His travels sparked his passion as a screenwriter, which evolved to producing and directing, and has led him to gain further education at the prestigious UCLA FILM School to gain his MFA in Directing / Production.
Dallas has written, produced, and directed 4 short, high concept films: DIABLO, LITTLE SOLDIER, CLOSE, MOST WANTED, and a TV pilot EVOLUTION. These films have gained Dallas a reputation for pulling off awe-inspiring projects with low budgets. These films earned Dallas the 2010 Motion Picture Association of America Award, the Four Sisters Award for writing, the Hispanic Scholarship Fund – McNamara Grant for the Arts, the Michael Minor and Robert Green Award for Directing, and the Jack K. Sauter Award for Directing. And recently Dallas's film Little Soldier was just officially selected to premiere at the Pan-African Film Festival and is in contention for "Best Short Film" of the festival.
As a busy filmmaker, Dallas always finds time to give back. He currently volunteers with the Los Angeles Education Partnership (LAEP) and Hispanic Scholarship Fund (HSF) and gives personal tours of UCLA Film School to 9th grade inner city Latino students of Los Angeles. Additionally, Dallas donates his time in collaboration with ARC Talent Management and SBC P.R.I.M.E. for "BIG KIDS CARE", a fundraising program that educates the public on the problems At-Risk Youth face today. The Big Kids Care PSA commercial which Dallas volunteered to Direct, was officially selected and will premiere at the International Family Film Festival.
Dallas just returned from the HATCHfest Summit in North Carolina as he was awarded as a "GROUNBREAKING" filmmaker for his film Little Soldier. Additionally Dallas was selected to pen a feature script THE ARK, as a finalist for the Alfred P. Sloan Award in Science. At the same time, Dallas is working towards the packaging of his first feature direct, entitled TATTOO, a gritty crime and action film, which he also penned.
